A PTR hostname can hint at upstream hosting, ISP infrastructure, or old public records, but it does not replace forward DNS or port checks.
- Use PTR as an extra clue, not the only source of truth.
- Compare the result with forward DNS and the current public IP.
- If the service is web-based, inspect headers and TLS next.
